THE POTENTIAL ONE GUIDE TO THE BEST ON LINE NETWORKS click on the name of the network listed in the table to go directly to the Potential One comment, or scroll down to see all
GENERAL NETWORKINGOne of the best networks, easy to use, very wide range of subscribers, easy to make contacts all over the world. Free membership. The workaround for this network, which requires you to know someonw you want to connect to, is to put your email address after your name or in the bidy of your profile. Then people can invite you to connect without asking someone else for a referral.
Another really useful network. Free membership unless you opt to pay for premium. Some nice features like checking who last visited your page. Direct contact in order to connect via the network server. Excellent network with lots of profile information and people who really encourage you to be part of the network. It is used for driving business connections in a serious way, and people appear to benefit from this. There are a little intrusive though, with lots of promo mails which clutter up your inbox, expecially if you do not want to take advantage of the fee-paying tiered membership. The free version is good enough for my purposes.
CREATIVE MINDS WORLDWIDE Good network, based similar to Open BC style, same format, so if you use one you can use the other, and copy/paste information. Not quite as extensive features but a useful network to dip into now and again. The focus is on creativity, and there are some inferesting articles posted.

SUSTAINABILITY NETWORKING
Another of my favourite networks for social activists and corporate social responsibilty freaks like ourselves at Potential One, , and a little more .. offers good and fairly uptodate CSR news, and lively forums, blog referrals and definitions. Technology base is a little limited so not as easy to network here as on some of the others, but its a good tool.
Great looking new network, bit limited in functionality but has promise .... covering all those social and environmental issues of debate and concern to those joining the ranks of social activists. Works from a UK base so the content has a little UK bias, but in general a refreshing new network. A widely subscribed international Yahoo group which reases a wide and diverse CSR population and is full of up-to-date and interesting messages and information from all sources about all things. You dont have to be a "bloke" to be a member but you do have to have a Yahoo ID. The message boards gets an average of 80 - 100 messages a month, a freally vibrant forum and worth joining. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/csrblokes
A female proposition on the same basis as the Blokes goup above, slightly different in content and flavour, but generally the am ount of cross-posting indicates that the number of members subscribing to both groups is quite high. Neither the blokes group nor this group has a specific gender related content. The volume of traffic via chicks is lower than blokes. Need Yahoo ID. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/csr_chicks/
Sustainability Practice Network for CSR and sustainability professionals around the world.. Siimilar idea, similar framework, similar content to Blokes and Chicks above. Less active and feed mostly off the other Yahoo groups. Still, worth monitoring from time to time. Need Yahoo ID. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/SPNetwork/
Recently formed group initiated by an impressive doctoral student at Nottingham, focussing on the challenges and issues of business partnerships with Non-profits. A nice forum, some genuine debate, and good to get another perspective on things going on in this field. More content, less news. Good forum. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NPO-BUSPartnerships/

HR NETWORKING
One of the best vibrantHR NEtworks around - mainly populated by Indians so expect a lot of posts from Mubai. This forum offers highly interesting questions and debate and many HR tools in the resource files. Worth a look for any HR professional. It's less of a network and more of an exchange, but has the same potential.
Not bad for those interested in HR Stratergy discussions but it has become a little of a recruiting board for headhunters and less of a debating group. However, an occasional interesting insight from time to time! Needs Yahoo ID. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/HR_Strategy/
